The Miele S7 trial
Last summer we sent a Miele S7 on trial around a few homes of bloggers eager to test its credentials.
The model we sent out was the S7580 AutoCare HEPA Upright Vacuum Cleaner. The AutoCare Hepa actually vacuumed over two miles of carpet during its trip. Which we didn’t thing was bad going at all. Below are a selection of the guys who were incvolved with the trial.
While with LaundryBasketCase the S7 got a full and thorough reviewing and it came out the other side looking good,
“Yes, I was well chuffed with how well the Miele performed. I felt it sucked up all the dog hairs, human hairs, bits of garden soil, and dog biscuit crumbs in a jiffy.”
The Dotteral though decided it wasn’t for him, due mainly to the weight of it and the ‘jet-engine’ noise it produced when starting up, but was happy to say,
“[…] it certainly does the job.”
Finally we have Backwards in High Heels, who had make sure that her mum didn’t steal the S7, so happy was she with the ease of which the vacuum could be driven. There’s a video of the action here.
We’re looking to do more trials throughout 2010 on a variety of Miele products, but we’d really like to hear from you on what they should be. Do you want another vacuum, a Cat and Dog maybe? If you’ve got an idea or would like to be involved get in touch through email or leave us a comment below.
Miele launch the Eco Line S4212 vacuum
Miele have launched the S4212 vacuum as part of their Eco Line. Which? have covered the news of the new addition here.

The Miele Eco Line S4212 has adjustable power settings that allow it to be more environmentally friendly. This is done by lowering the energy setting when full power isn’t necessary.
The Which? article features comments from their vacuum expert Vivienne Fitzroy, and a little on the Miele press release,
“The new S4212 is described by Miele as quiet, compact and lightweight. The manufacturer also promises the vacuum will offer good suction even when using lower power settings. It uses Miele HyClean dustbags which Miele says lock in the finest of dust particles and guarantees no leakage.”
Which? Haven’t yet reviewed the S4212 but will be doing so soon – keep your eye out for that.

Miele S5211 review from Ciao
The Miele S5211 has been reviewed on Ciao by HH375 and, as with previous Miele products they have owned, they are more than happy with the new vacuum cleaner,
“As usual, I have been astounded at the quality that Miele builds into their products; beautifully made, quiet, light and very efficient.”
The downside to the model for HH375 is that they are unable to get replacement bags locally, though shopping online has saved the trouble of having to search the Hight Street. And all though they state that the Miele is more expensive than other brands,
“[…] as always in life, you get what you pay for! This is another testament to the quality of Miele products.”

Miele S4812 Hybrid vacuum review
We’ve already had a feature on Miele’s S4812 Hybrid vacuum cleaner courtesy of DustFluffGrit and now it’s the turn of Machines That Go Bing,
“The Miele S4812 is based on the S4 vacuum cleaner but with the addition of lithium-ion batteries that can run the cleaner at 600W for up to twenty minutes (compared to 1800W normal operation). This allows you to pull the chord out of the AC supply and carry on cleaning beyond the range of the mains lead (9m).”

The review is broken down into sub-headings which makes everything easy digest. And these are comprehensive, covering everything from durability and safety, to cleaning and the attachments. There is also an assessment of the S4812’s filtration system,
“The Miele hybrid is filtered courtesy of AirClean’s latest generation of HEPA filters. Theses filters have 9 layers of filtering material to minimize amount of dust and pollutants that pass through the system and back out into the room.”

Best vacuum for pet hair?
Discussion on the best vacuum for pet hair has been taking place on Money Saving Expert since dannyjebb asked for recommendations. He’s having problems coping with the cat hair his two Maine Coons are producing.
Jay Tee jumps straight in and suggests the Miele Cat and Dog,
“I replaced my upright [model] with a Miele Cat and Dog, really worth the extra [money]. Only downside is that you have to buy bags, but it’s better built and the performance is brilliant and it’s the least noisy vacuum I’ve owned.”
He also mentions the option to extend the warranty to 10 years. In regard to the Cat and Dog pinksleepybear concurs,
“I agree with Jay Tee - we’ve just gone […] to the Miele Cat and Dog. It’s brilliant, comes with loads of accessories and although we now need to buy dustbags, you get a pack of 4 dustbags and 2 filters for £9.”
