Would you go back to a bag?
This was the problem facing Mamhaf of the mumsnet community. Needing a replacement for her current and faltering vacuum to combat a moulting dog, the advice she’d be given was to go with a Miele Cat & Dog. The thought of returning to bags however was not, for her, a pleasant thought,
“I hate the thought of going back to the hassle of bags, buying them, checking they’re full/empty etc.”
Fellow contributors Mamaloco and Ixia felt otherwise, both championing the bag system. Ixia specifically recommending the Cat & Dog,
“I have a Miele and love it. It tells you when the bag is full, the bag has a wee tab that you pull to seal it - no mess, no hassle, you can just put it in the kitchen bin.”
To see if this was enough to convince Mamhaf to go back to a bag head through to the full thread.
Miele S5281 reviewed by Babs
Over at the Argos site the Miele S5281 has generated a further review, this time from Babs in Cambridgeshire.
The vacuum scores a five out of five from Babs, a trend that continues on from previous reviews of the S5281 on the Argos site making the average star rating 4.8. So what does Babs love about it?
“Excellent suction and very quiet, a joy to use after using an upright from a well known company. Great for reaching under furniture, beds etc. Lightweight and very easy to manoeuvre.”

Her only minor gripe is having to go back to using bags, but this wouldn’t stop her recommending the S5281 in a flash. To read all the user reviews click through.
Review: Miele S7 S7510 upright bagged vacuum cleaner on Amazon
“What a fantastic machine!” begins J. Harbour’s review of the MIELE S7 S7510 UPRIGHT BAGGED VACUUM CLEANER over on Amazon.co.uk – setting the tone for what can only be described as an almost wholeheartedly positive appraisal.
After moving into a rented house and suffering due to the perils of cream carpets, J apparently went through a whole back catalogue of vacuums before succumbing to “rave reviews online, finally deciding to splash out on the Miele.” Rating it as “worth every penny” – he goes on to say “It is rather heavy, however to achieve the quality of machine, powerful suck and manoeuvrability it must have to house some pretty mean engineering”.
Whatsmore, good news from the ground is that his “cream!(arrggh) carpets look fab again and the pile is squashy underfoot” - and as for the vacuum, he suggests “it certainly deserves its rave reviews”.
New vacuum wanted: Preferably of the bagged variety
Over at the Mumsnet discussion forums eltham knows what she wants and that’s a new vacuum, so she’s given the members of the community a fairly open brief as long as it’s of the bagged variety.
SammyC, Andthentherewerethree and HeadFairy all lead the conversation with their recommendations for Henry as it “really gets rid of cat hairs!” a statement that luvlydECMOrations counters with a vote for the Miele and “we have the cat and dog version and its great”. Snoringnightmare says she can’t vouch for a Henry, but as a former Dyson owner that “weren’t that great” advocates “Miele all the way from now on”.
However it’s SleighGirl who rounds off the discussion having just treated herself to “a limited edition special offer one today “Red Pearl” for £170 which include a 5 year guarantee” and thinks “Miele are great”.

Brief encounters - Miele Cat & Dog TT5000 vacuum cleaner review
YouKayGreen is yet another happy Miele Cat & Dog owner, so much so that he’s added to the lengthy list of complimentary reviews on the TT5000 over at Amazon.co.uk.
While limiting his comments to whole-heartedly agreeing with the previous testimonials, he remarks that after having been seduced by “all the hype went to the bagless variety years back”, but was “never happy”.
Now he’s bought himself a Miele he points out that “as soon as you switch [it] on and hear the motor pick up speed you can tell this vacuum is a class above”. While he finds the automatic pop-up bag cover “a bit too clever” over all he’s pleased with his purchase.
You can read his review over at Amazon.co.uk and if you find it useful leave a comment.
