DogPages.org are talking vacuum cleaners
On the forums of DogPages.org member pbr is looking for help on choosing a vacuum cleaner,
“I just need a recommendation for a bagless cylinder reasonably lightweight vacuum cleaner for mainly wooden floors but with some carpet & rugs.”
Despite the request for bagless a few members have advised not being too hasty dismissing the alternative, especially when it comes to the Miele Cat and Dog. Jazzlet praises its ability to deal with laminate,
“I have to say that I rarely vacuum the laminate as it’s quicker to whip round with a broom, but it does a great job when I do. And it picks up the difficult combination of long human hair and short dog hair from the carpets with no trouble.”
When it comes to the bag issue mcclurgs suggests it isn’t as bigger problem as one may think,
“I am a massive Miele Cat and Dog fan, yep it comes with bags but the job it does is unbelievable. I have 3 dogs and empty the bag maybe once a month.”
And on page two of the thread Janice, who believes her Miele Cat and Dog upright cleaner is the best she’s ever owned, thinks bags are an advantage,
“It’s not bagless, but having the bag is a bonus in my opinion … bagless cleaners are very messy, and spew dust everywhere when you empty them. Everything that goes into the Miele dust bag stays there, 100 per cent.”
Have you got a preference when it comes to bag or bagless? A tip for battling dog hair? Or an opinion on the above? Let us know in the comments…
MSE – Which vacuum to buy?
‘Which vacuum to buy?’ It’s the question that JJDaisy has asked the Money Saving Expert community. Despite wanting bagless the recommendations have come in for Miele and other bagged brands.
“My vote goes to Miele bagged 2200w vacuums they’re bloody good.”
That is the opinion of Moneysava_WannaB. Sucker for Sweeties and Okeydokey concur starting,
“I LOVE love love my Miele, and their service is the best I’ve ever experienced [...]”
And,
“Me too! Miele products always do a fantastic job and never ever go wrong. They may look more expensive when comparing headline prices but they’re the most reliable and do the best job of any vacuum cleaners I’ve used, so ultimately they’re excellent value in the long run.”

Cathrin has a problem with bagless vacuums
Cathrin at Digital Spy suffers from allergies and therefore is a little sceptical about having to empty a bagless vacuum. As Fear_Factor calls it, ‘the dust-face’ could be a problem.
The response from the community members has seen quite a few recommendations for Miele when it comes to a vacuum with a bag. DEmmerson and Norbitonite both agree Miele is the way to go and mention the sliding shut off the bags have to stop dust escaping during the changing of bags. It is this that seems to have won over Cathrin,
“Ah, I like the sound of that sliding shutoff thing!
Guess I’ll have to save up for a Miele then. I know they’re pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for!
Thanks again for the replies.

eBay forum posters discuss the relative merits of bagged vs. bagless vacuums
A quick update on the old ‘with or without bags’ conundrum, and today it’s the members of the eBay forums taking on the debate. *****sparkle***iow*****’s (there are a lot of stars in that one) vacuum has “just blown up (with bag & donkeys years old) so need a quick, not too expensive replacement” and asks for any recommendations.
Cue a number of responses, and once again a truly mixed bag of ideas. Of course, a number of people prefer not having to buy extras for their vacuum, but as mushed up points out “Bags, its so much easier to empty”, although conceding that “bagless is better if you forget to buy bags”. Spirited*and*free meanwhile has a conundrum “I love my Dyson – I’d marry it if I could ((((Dyson)))) but then I’m too tight to buy a Miele which are superior in everyway”, while patty*poppins agrees (with her latter sentiment anyway), stating “ALL Miele appliances are superior in every way *hearts Miele*”.
Get over there, and let everyone know your point of view.
Brief encounters – Miele Cat & Dog vacuum cleaner review
With 5 stars granted in each of the four review categories and described as “very powerful and quiet with a real feeling of quality” – the latest review of the Miele Cat & Dog vacuum cleaner over at Dooyoo is one of the best yet!
And while there’s no clue as to where the flamboyantly monikered ‘mrmojorisin04′ got his name, it’s certain that he loves the improvements the Cat & Dog has made in cleaning his home. After lamenting the performance of his previous vacuum he goes on to say of his Miele that it’s “so powerful that nothing is left behind, and works fantastically on both carpet and laminate flooring.”
And of the bag vs. bagless debate, he’s also firmly pinned his colours to one particular Miele-friendly mast, stating “the bagged cylinder really is the best option”. After all, at around £8 for 4 – “bags are very strong synthetic and can be bought pretty reasonably from the Miele website”. As he says in conclusion: “A highly recommended cylinder cleaner.”
