Miele fridge freezer in debate on the Motley Fool
Slarti has heard good things about the Miele brand on investment advice site The Motley Fool, but is interested in purchasing a Miele fridge/freezer – and wants some specific thoughts. Luckily, the board is as responsive as ever, with RedSturgeon an owner of both; “had them both for 8 years no issues at all. They seem as reliable and well made as my Miele vacuum cleaner, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and tumble drier.”
Ahenry “bought an integrated Miele fridge freezer and had it for about 10 years”, whilst industry specialist BeaglesEnd responds to a negative comment about customer service with his view, suggesting “In all the time I was in the industry I cannot remember a complaint from a Miele customer about the customer service they received.” Get over there to join the discussion.
Lesley rates his 5 star Miele Premier 500 washing machine
It would be fair to say Lesley Fielding has seen a lot of Miele in his life. Indeed, over the last 24 years he has “owned two washing machines, a dishwasher, tumble dryer, vacuum cleaner, fridge and freezer and the only one which has been replaced was the original washing machine when it packed up after nearly 20 years.”
But it is not just the quality of the machines that have delighted him, but the help he has received too. “Their Service Dept in Abingdon is wonderful” he says “they can often diagnose faults over the phone and advise on simple remedies you can do yourself – like checking inlet and outlet valves, and are unfailingly polite and helpful.”
To conclude, he “would never hesitate to buy Miele machines every time”. Read more in Lesley’s review over on unbeatable.co.uk.
How do I vacuum up long hair? Be it human or hound…
Friday afternoon and it’s back to what we know… Favourite site mumsnet.com, and in particular interestingly monikered Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa - who is after a vacuum to cope with Border Collie hair. Amuminscotland responds “We have a Miele – there’s one specifically called a Cat & Dog” which is “brilliant at getting long hair up (though in our case it’s 2 long-haired people rather than pets who cause the problem”.
Meanwhile, keithshirley has been suitably impressed with Miele customer services “Good service: Rang Miele for washing machine repair. Serviceman was here within the hour and called 5 minutes before to confirm we’re here.” Nice to hear Keith – anyone had similar, or very different experiences? Let us know below.
Miele’s Lucy Webb leaves Albert beaming
A quick update from the comments section of Forever Better, and specifically a comment left in the last few days by Albert Topliss on last September’s post ‘More praise for Miele Customer Service’.
You can see his full comment over here detailing his dealings with Miele’s Lucy Webb – but to summarise, he “was overwhelmed by the tremendous efforts that she made to ensure that we found our exact requirements, which enabled us to go ahead with confidence to choose the best model for our purpose”.

How do you deal with a washing machine leak?
Sometimes even the finer things in life develop a little fault and this post from iscamaid on Money Saving Expert forums could prove both informative and educational for anyone whose washing machine develops a leak.
Having been told by peers that her “Miele was indestructible”, iscamaid was “surprised last week to find it leaking from under the machine”. I leave her to take up the story. “I knew it would be out of guarantee so was expecting a huge call out charge when I called Miele customer service centre. The lady there said before calling out an engineer try running two 95 degree washes as it was probably a blocked outlet pipe. Worked a treat and the leak has now disappeared.”
A nice resolution to the situation, and one that has left her suggesting “5 stars for customer service.” If you’ve had any notable experiences with Miele customer service – do join the conversation, or let us know in the comment box below.
