Brief encounters – Miele Cat & Dog TT5000 vacuum cleaner review
Even with a household full of Miele appliances, it wasn’t a foregone conclusion when Broadsword’s vacuum cleaner needed replacing that another Miele machine would be top of the shopping list as this latest review of the Cat & Dog TT5000 over on Amazon.co.uk demonstrates.
After ditching their Dyson for the Cat & Dog, he described his ultimate decision as: “All those reviewers and ‘Which’ can’t be wrong” and having already “bought a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher from Miele this year” was already “very impressed with the brand”.
As the TT5000 was the first cylinder cleaner they’ve owned, Broadsword has been delighted with how well the vacuum copes with corners and pleasantly surprised by the motor noise or rather the lack of it calling it “as good as silent compared with any other machine we’ve used.”
While he admits the “only tiny negative is that Miele appliances are not cheap” he concedes that over the life of the vacuum “you get a lot for the money” and like the other Cat & Dog reviews we’ve covered in the past he commends it as “greatly recommended” advising potential purchasers to “ignore all the flashy promotion from Dyson and others and go for this one. You won’t be disappointed”

Best vacuum for a wedding present?
It may fall a little way behind the catering arrangements, honeymoon and consummation where marriage is concerned, but when the weeping relatives and confetti are gone, it’s probably time to think about which vacuum is best suited to keeping one’s love nest clean and tidy. After all, with an “uncle offering one as a wedding present” money should certainly be no object?
And it’s the Miele S4211 vacuum which receives the first recommendation over at the Hitched Forum, with KB3 keen to let everyone know exactly how well it’s done for her. “I’ve used it loads since we bought it, it takes some getting used to as our old hoover was an upright but the suction is fab, it’s tiny yet can do a 3 bed house no problem, carpet & hardfloor…”
Sah and MD each describe their Miele as “fab”, while Lady Gooner has been swept off her feet by the “wonderful suction, the attachments are great and the carpets look like new”.
All of which leaves the bride-to-be to reasonably summise: “Thanks all. So Miele/Henry clear winners so far. I think Miele looks smaller so maybe easier to store in our limited space”. A good shout indeed – oh, and good luck on the big day!
Brief encounters – Miele Cat & Dog TT5000 vacuum cleaner review
Karen the Viking is yet another former Dyson owner who got so fed up with the lack of suction from the one time golden-boy of vacuums that she’s ditched it in favour of a Miele.
Her review over at Amazon UK explains how after consulting other pet owners and doing plenty of research she went for the TT5000 to deal with the fur from her Persian cat. Despite never having owned a cylinder cleaner before, she’s very impressed by the ability of the Cat & Dog to clean a variety of surfaces and small spaces. The addition of extra attachments means she now tackles places she never did with her Dyson upright. Her only bugbear with the Miele is that it’s so powerful, that on lightweight rugs it sucks up the rug itself!

Laminate the house or Immac the dog…
Is the tongue-in-cheek suggestion from pinklady in the Sheffield Forum in reply to loopylass’ post about the best vacuum for picking up dog hair.
The debate centres around the choice of Sebo, Miele or Dyson and whether to plump for an upright or cylinder machine. Katkin loved her Miele which lasted for fifteen years, but finally replaced it with a Dyson DC18 although she describes it as “…useless for cleaning cushions unless you have 4 foot long arms”.
Strix recommends Miele as the best cylinder cleaners available and blue-kat considers the price of the handheld Dyson too expensive when compared to a cylinder Miele.
