Dishwashers are the order of the day over at Fool.co.uk and more specifically PrincessBouncy whose old Hotpoint machine “has proven to be totally useless” so is “going to consign it to the dump and buy a proper unit”. With a budget of £500, she’s “leaning towards a Miele”, but would consider another brand if it came with personal recommendations.
Fellow fool ahini tells PrincessBouncy to “follow your Miele instinct” and as a Miele owner herself is “very happy with mine after 4 years. It does a really good job, quietly, and I love the tray for cutlery”. Aquarius59 is other Miele advocate who points out that while “they can be more expensive but last for absolutely ages and are considered to be more cost effective than cheaper brands over time. I have been delighted with mine.”
Both Bosch and Siemens aren’t without their fans and are recommended as cheaper alternatives to Miele although Diziet points out that while Bosch and Siemens are roughly the same standard “Miele is several notches up again!”
If you’ve got a suggestion for PrincessBouncy pop over to the Fool.co.uk message board and have your say.

SparklyGothKat over at the Mumsnet discussion boards has had her dishwasher go belly up. Luckily her insurance covers the cost of a replacement and likes the look of a Smeg machine she’s seen. However for a further £20 on top of her payout she could go for a Miele instead and “wondered what they are like”.
No prizes for guessing that Miele comes out ahead of Smeg from those members who’ve owned both brands. As Winetimeisfinetime demonstrates: “I have had a Smeg dishwasher - a stainless steel one which looked lovely but was not very good at washing the dishes…also had a Bosch which was similarly bad”. “We now have a Miele which we are pleased with…So I would definitely recommend Miele over Smeg”.
Docket too describes the comparison as “Miele are meant to be the best. Smeg are meant to be amongst the worst!” although what ultimately gains most attention is Miele’s flat cutlery tray of which NCbirdy, GrabShellDude and Warthog are all fans. Mme Lindt goes one step further describing it as “genius” while Winetimeisfinetime pops up again to comment on the safety factor of keeping “the sharp stuff out of the way”. Happy with the responses SparklyGothKat concludes: “Miele it is then!! Can’t wait to get the voucher and go shopping!!!”

When your appliances are rather worn, defunct – or quite frankly ex-appliances - whitegoods shopping beckons and with it a wide choice of hardware that one must painstakingly choose. But what should one go for? Well if you’re anything like oldgreypoet from the ‘A little bit of bread…and no cheese’ blog, you pick Miele as this duologue describes:
“I don’t know about you,” I said, “but this is something I don’t want to have to repeat any time soon. And I want the best machines we can find.”
“Easy, then,” said Graham. “We’ll go for Miele.”
“Gulp,” I said, feeling my wallet gripping tight to the inside of my pocket.
“Yup. I know. But it’ll be worth it. Tell ya what. You pay for the washer/dryer and I’ll pay for the dishwasher.”
“Fair enough.”
And lo, one house kitted out in plenty of Miele goods, a fact celebrated by the majority of oldgreypoet’s readers. L’autre Monique suggests that Miele are a “very nice choice of brand indeed! Those washer/dryer combos aren’t as common here in the States as I know they are in Europe, but they should gain in popularity eventually for their space-saving advantages also among others.” Bex meanwhile says “Over here, if you have ‘money’ (which a LOT of folks do around this area) then you buy Miele everything”.
Excited by their purchase, oldgreypoet is now patiently awaiting delivery of the “gleaming new top of the line machines…We’ll be more than ready for [them] when they arrive.”

The members of Digital Spy are at it again and this time it’s affable ‘fatcontroller’ who’s looking for advice on dishwashers after taking “a bit of a shine to a Bosch SMS50E06GB”. But what of the general public and their reaction? LCDMAN takes up the story…
“Which? top recommendations (’Best Buy’) for dishwashers ALWAYS has Bosch/Siemens and Miele at the top” and Shuttermaze agrees: “Ohh.. nice… I’ve had a Miele for 10 years now, still works as good as it did when we first had it. Brilliant machine it is.” Ellie666 points out one of the features she finds appealing: “we have a Miele which gives the option of cold fill only (much better) or you can hot fill it.”
Pai pai owns the Bosch model in question and has a couple of issues with washing glasses and food scraps being trapped in the door opening to which Ellie666 replies once again: “yet another great excuse for getting a Miele, if they don’t have the right attachments for you, you can usually purchase extra addons.”
Like Pai pai is the anything about your model of dishwasher that drives you nuts? Why not jump over to Digital Spy and have your say.

Over at Money Saving Expert, dishwasher recommendations are the order of the day as littleminx has finally decided to bite the bullet and buy one. Initially put off by the scratches she’s seen on friends glassware she’s changed her mind after talking to her sister-in-law and would like advice on the best one to go for.
Gangstabird was going to buy a Miele, but learned the hard way that inexpensive machines are a false economy and vows to “…never EVER buy a cheap machine again”, while MrsE has been so impressed by Miele’s unique cutlery tray in her friends machine, that she’s earmarked her next machine as a Miele too.
However it’s HC, owner of a G1220, who speaks from experience and “definitely recommends” buying a Miele as they’ve got “a good reputation for quality and durability” also describing the cutlery tray as “brilliant”. She advises littlemix that “even an entry-level [G1022] one will be good” even with the traditional basket.

Aside from the tongue-in-cheek suggestions about the ‘other-half’ being the best dishwasher, fancy*footwork over at the eBay UK Forums would like recommendations for a new dishwasher as the repairman has declared her current machine kaput.
She’s looking for something built-in, about 59.6cm wide and “…not a Smeg!”, so has asked the question: “What do you have, does it work well, and would you buy it again? AEG, Bosch and Siemens are all recommended by furryfur, faeriedak and numptygirl1969 respectively, while ivvie loves her Miele describing it bashfully as “…A+ rated and very quiet. Clever cos it has sensors to regulate the temperature and water depending on how dirty the dishes are”. She also loves the peace of mind of the standard five-year warranty and “…not the usual one year thingy.”
Again the recommendations from all concerned is to avoid the lesser brand names, as not only are they noiser and appear to clog more easily, they don’t last as long as a prestige brand.

A new review of the Miele G1222SCi dishwasher has popped up on the Review Centre courtesy of sarahgee12 in which she writes the machine washes “beautifully and consistently”.
Giving the dishwasher an overall score of 9 out of 10, she notes that it’s easy to both set up and use, plus the cutlery tray is a “god send”. She’s also impressed by the low noise levels plus the versatility in which the trays and removable sections for pans can be used.
Sarahgee12 concludes that it can be tough buying expensive appliances nowadays, but the Miele G1222SCi “is well worth it”. Head on over to read the full review.

Another review from Dooyoo comes this time from Susie T who writes glowingly on the Miele Built-in Plate Warmer.
Also known more technically as the EGW-601-29, Susie tells how she’s had the plate warmer for “a couple of years now” and finds it easy and simple to use especially when she has friends round as it “helps keep the food warm” while serving dinner. She also thinks it’s “fantastic” for heating up coffee cups. “What use is that?” you may ask. Well, it makes coffee taste better apparently and she says “…we just love it”.
Susie concludes her review with a quick rundown on the amount of crockery the plate warmer can hold at any one time and highlights two of the temperature settings: 40C for cups and 60C for plates.

Over at the Damsels Forum there’s a bit of excitement coming from ChelseaHarvey, who reports that she’ll move in to her new abode in less than 17 days.
Part of this excitement comes from the fact that she can now buy herself a dishwasher, something she’s not had the space for previously. A self-admitted “dishwasher virgin”, she isn’t entirely sure what she wants but does know that she needs “a big one not one of those slim line ones”. What she wants to know is are dishwashers much of a muchness, or do some brands stand out among the others?
While Bosch receives a number of recommendations in particular, Booh recommends Miele as “they always come out best on the Which reviews!” and from fifitrix who’s own inbuilt Miele is “…so quiet you wouldn’t know it is on.” ChelseaHarvey is still open to suggestions, so if you’ve had any dishwasher experience, head on over and let her know.

One of the most interesting features of the Miele dishwasher range is the unique cutlery tray which comes as standard across most of the models.
We’ve briefly touched on this feature previously on Forever Better in our posts ‘Recommend me a dishwasher’ in which Windym of the Money Saving Expert Forum describes it as “cleans beautifully…” and gives “…extra space on the bottom rack” and ‘Which is the most energy efficient dishwasher?’ where MrsE and Kwatt both like the feature as they say takes up less space than the traditional basket. And more recently Anna, a member of the Jamie Oliver Forums thinks so too and in the briefest of posts calls it “brilliant”.
Blogger Melissa C. Morris has been using both the cutlery tray and the more traditional basket recently on two different Miele models and has posted pictures of them in action. Check them out.
