A day at the Miele Experience Centre
On Saturday Forever Better rounded up some of our blogger friends and took them away for a day in the Abingdon Miele Experience Centre.
For a list of who attended look no further than A Modern Mother,
“Meet my new friends… Bronwyn of Feast with Bron, Anne from Anne’s Kitchen, the lovely Carla who Can Be Bribed With Food, Jennifer of Chocolate Ecstasy, Robin who blogs at Source it, Cook it, Eat it, and Mimi from MeeMalee’s Kitchen.”
Also going by the name Susanna, a Modern Mother, feels that her blogging career might be some what misdirected,
“I got it all wrong; instead of
whingingblogging about kids all day, I should be a FOOD BLOGGER. Then I could try out cool new accessories and cook and eat…”
And that is indeed what Susanna did on Saturday, getting to grips with the Miele appliances, notably the steam oven, she and the group created some superb dishes. There was asparagus and sunblush tomato quiche, chocolate dipped crispy amaretti biscuits and creamy mushroom penne.
There’s a selection of photographs in Susanna’s post depicting the fun, much like the one below featuring our very own Roxy and Chocolate Ecstasy’s Jennifer.
More on this from Bronwyn of Feast with Bron and Source it, Cook it, Eat it’s Robin tomorrow. For now though click through to read A Modern Mother’s full post and see what other culinary excellence was achieved (of which there is a sneak peak on the photostream of Anne’s Kitchen).
Oven advice at SeatCupra.Net
You may not necessarily expect to find conversation on oven’s in SEAT Cupra.net, but things are never what they seem as this thread entitled Advice on Ovens proves.
It was started by this request from contributor Toledo Widow,
“We are thinking that it’s time to buy a new oven and hob as this one is at least 15 years old. Thing is, we’ve never bought an oven before and don’t have a clue where to start or what to look out for, let alone how much we should spend.”
Poverty opts for Miele straight away with HusbandOfStinky suggesting,
“I’d vouch for Miele too, excellent stuff and not too expensive either (just a bit more).”

Merry Christmas!
We’re taking a break over Christmas, but will be back in the New Year with more Miele excellence. We just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone we’ve met this year – Thanks!
Come 2010 we’ll be doing more than ever in the way of activities, events and content for the ForeverBetter site. Hopefully you’ll join us and get involved in all we have planned.
Merry Christmas and we’ll see you all soon!
Back at the Good Food Show, Birmingham
Our last two updates featured My Cooking Hut and Anne’s Kitchen enjoying the Good Food Show in London, but we’re now back in Brum with Alex, The Princess and the Recipe and Bron of Feast with Bron fame.
Alex and Bron both took part in the Miele Cookery Experience. Alex attended the show on Thursday last week and mentions meeting the Hairy Bikers before being ‘whisked’ (excellent food pun) off to meet Mark Lloyd, head chef at The Cleave Inn, who was leading the ‘experience’,
“What Miele had neglected to tell us was that the ‘experience’ would be on stage in front of a live audience! We put on our best smiles and headed for the stage.”
There was no need for nerves though as Alex turned out a venison toad in the hole, which as you can see looks amazing!

Bron visited the show on the Saturday and her Miele Cooking Experience was with TV Chef Martin Blunos (and Friend of ForeverBetter, Kits). The prospect of cooking in front of an audience of strangers was causing minor trepidation, but on seeing that she’d be cooking scallops was able to relax,
“Scallops. Mmmm - yum. Panic over, I decided I could do this, with or without an audience. Thane Prince set the ball rolling then Martin Blunos came out to much applause and told all of us we were to make scallops baked in the shell, the edges sealed with puff pastry.”

How good do they look? Good work Bron! If you fancy trying them, she has kindly included the recipe on her site.
If this is the sort of thing you’d like to be part of then why not get involved with ForeverBetter and Miele by getting in touch, we’d love to hear from you!
Miele S5281 reviewed by Babs
Over at the Argos site the Miele S5281 has generated a further review, this time from Babs in Cambridgeshire.
The vacuum scores a five out of five from Babs, a trend that continues on from previous reviews of the S5281 on the Argos site making the average star rating 4.8. So what does Babs love about it?
“Excellent suction and very quiet, a joy to use after using an upright from a well known company. Great for reaching under furniture, beds etc. Lightweight and very easy to manoeuvre.”

Her only minor gripe is having to go back to using bags, but this wouldn’t stop her recommending the S5281 in a flash. To read all the user reviews click through.
