Miele > Bosch > Everything else
So says jonno.co.uk on the overclockers.co.uk forums, whilst discussing the relative merits of fridge freezers. Evangelion agrees, and has “heard that Miele, Siemens and AEG are all good brands”.
Herojuana agrees too, with family ties clearly particularly influential on his purchasing “My brother owns the family business now which is domestic appliances, and he recommends Miele as one of the best/most reliable manufacturers”. SO much so in fact that Herojuana goes onto say that “in fact, all of [his] kitchen is Miele”.
The joy of buying your first home
Getting a foot on the property ladder has never been more difficult, so you can imagine Claire484′s delight when she finally bought her first home. Now she’s looking for a washing machine and fridge freezer and is finding it hard to make a decision over the best ones for her.
So she’s turned to her fellow Money Saving Expert’s for advice and Miele once again come out as the preferred choice. Kay41 bought a Miele washing machine to replace her old Zanussi as “…they are built to last (15-20 years)” and is “…chuffed to bits with it”.
Likewise Snapelover has just ordered a new Miele machine and is taking delivery tomorrow. After contacting Miele and “being advised to go for the W3922WPS” she compared it against a Bosch and decided that Miele’s reputation for longevity and ten-year guarantees against Bosch’s two-year warranty was a no-brainer. Such is her excitement she concludes with “…Got lots of washing waiting and longing for Friday to come!!!”
The dilemma of the best fridge freezer for Claire484 remains unresolved however so if you’ve got a recommendation for her, why not drop by the forum and share your thoughts.
Fridge Freezers – Who to go for and to avoid?
Over at DIYBanter.com, jamma-plusser is in the market for a new fridge freezer and looking at buying an Indesit. However, he’s uncertain if they’re a brand to be avoided so has asked for other suggestions.
Donwill found himself in a similar situation a year ago and following a friend’s recommendation puchased a Miele, while Rod also bought a Miele freezer and Bosch fridge a year ago and describes the Bosch as “…ok but somehow doesn’t seem quite so good.”. Tim S goes a step further and calls his Miele fridge “…the dog’s gonads.” and believes it keeps his fruit and veg fresher for “noticeably longer” reducing his family’s food wastage by 10%.
Have you noticed any improvement in the shelf-life of your perishables aftering buying a new fridge compared to your old appliance? Are expensive appliances more energy-efficient than their cheaper rivals? Why not leave a comment in the forum.
Miele or Smeg – Which has the best build quality?
New member Floob over at the UK Whitegoods Forum is looking to buy a new fridge freezer and although tempted by Miele also likes the look of Smeg. However, they’re unsure whether Smeg’s build quality matches Miele’s, so have asked for advice from those in the know.
Ike offers the opinion that Smeg build quality is purely marketing talk and describes it as “dubious” and having just bought a Liebherr model in stainless steel further recommends either Miele or Liebherr for their engineering and reliability, with Miele just having the edge on style.
Are you a Smeg owner? Or have you compared Miele, Smeg or any other appliance brand in a recent purchase decision? Share your thoughts with Floob in the forum.
Fridge freezer recommendations
UK Whitegoods member benshort is looking for a new fridge freezer to replace his aging one.
He’s set a budget of around £400 and requires a reliable, 50/50 split, A or A++ energy efficient appliance and has found both the Hotpoint RF175BP and KD1450 S fit the bill.
He’s asked for further suggestions from his fellow members and Don has recommended the Miele on the strength of the more flexible storage, external temperature control and two-year warranty.
Can you help Ben with your suggestions? What would you recommend if it was your money? Join in the discussion.
