Brief encounters - Miele STB 205-2 Turbobrush review
It’s been a while since we last featured a review from vacuum expert Nar. Having previously written about the S360 and S571, this time he’s turned his attention to one of Miele’s vacuum accessories, the STB 205-2 Turbobrush over on Dooyoo.
As we’ve come to expect from him, his write-up is comprehensive and thorough as he takes us through the pros and cons of ownership: why and when you should consider buying one, how it compares to the standard brush head, how it performs around the home and storage when not in use.
Writing that the Turbobrush is suitable for all surfaces, Nar noticed an immediate improvement on hardwood flooring “without fear of scraping” and for those of us with delicate materials like silk rugs finds it “leaves a beautifully groomed finish”. Concluding that if you’re looking for something with a little bit more uumph and versatility than the suction-only standard head especially on threads and pet hair, Nar tells us the Turbobrush will be a valuable addition to the household cleaning armoury.
Pop across to Dooyoo to read Nar’s review in full. It’s certainly worth the read.
First new vacuum in 15 years - Any recommendations?
MmeLindt on Mumsnet.com is facing one of those age old problems and is seeking solace amongst her fellow forum users asking: “The choice of vacuums is a bit overwhelming, we have hardwood floors, no carpets. Any recommendations?”
Missingtheaction is first to reply, with a succinct, if a little terse, response – simply saying “Miele”, while ohIdoliketobebesidethe admits hearty interest in the brand, but asks: “Are they really worth it”?
Well they certainly are for BirdyArms who bought a “Miele Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner” in deep jet black – and is “in love. Completely and utterly in love”. WowOoo too has got “a Miele cat and dog and I love it”, and cluelessnchaos says “I have a Miele after three Dysons and I love it”
The conversation continues in similar vein here, so pop over and have a browse or better yet get involved.
Best vacuum for mixed flooring?
After years of reliable service sucking up glass, soot and household dust, KB3’s vacuum has finally given up. She’s been looking at the offers around at the moment and is impressed by an £80 saving on a Dyson DC07, however since she has “…hardwood floors downstairs and carpet upstairs”, isn’t sure if the Dyson’s up to the job.
Fellow members of the Hitched Forum have ridden to her rescue with Alison76 suggesting the Miele S5211. Not only does she own one, but points out “I’ve just looked at the Which best buy table and the top 4 were all Miele and there were another 3 or 4 Miele also in the top 20″. She also suggests the S4211 as it”…came out better than the black one I listed, and it’s slightly cheaper too.” Gryfon too also has a Miele which she describes as “fab”.
Worried that cylinder cleaners will give her a bad back and prove troublesome storing, Alison76 once again reassures her: “…It takes less room than our old upright one took. I have a lower back problem and don’t get any aches and pains using it.”
If you’ve got any advice for KB3 jump across to the forum and have your say.
