Washer dryer or washing machine and tumble dryer?
The washer dryer or washing machine and tumble dryer debate is going on at Overclockers. It began when Helpimcrap asked of washer dryers,
“So are they any good?”
There are a few different opinions on the thread and you can read them all if you click through. In regard to the washer dryer Arch thinks that Miele are the best, but are expensive.
When it comes to separates Aidman offers advice on saving space,
“I have a Miele washer & Miele dryer – they provide a bracket so you can stack them one on top of the other – has been rock solid for the past 3 years and both appliances came with a 5 year warranty.”
What is your stance? Washer dryer or washing machine and tumble dryer?
MJT at Overclockers opts for Miele
On the Overclockers forum Mr Paul has asked for advice on the best provider of fitted kitchens. Although there has been a wide and varied response, MJT recommends Miele,
“Miele fitted kitchens are very solid and last forever, as do the appliances.
Ours is 20 years old this year and only the dishwasher and oven have been replaced, and that was last year. All the units are in perfect condition and nothing has broken.”
The discussion on the thread is a healthy one, so if you’re interested in seeing what else was being said click through.
Eddie Slovik recommends a Miele washing machine
At the Overclockers forum Hux has asked for someone to ‘spec him a washing machine.’
The community has helped out offering much advice – notably Danny Mac who succinctly suggests that you should always buy German. However it is Eddie Slovik who recommends a Miele washing machine,
“Miele are the absolute top boys […]”
Bear also puts in a word for Miele, specifically the warranties on offer on the higher end models,
“Miele started around £400 when we were looking. We made sure we got one over £650 because they were offering 10 years manufacturers warranty with them.”

The importance of vacuum attachments
The importance of vacuum attachments, and having the correct one for the job required, is being discussed on the Overclockers UK Forum.

Mammalian has joined in on a thread that began back in October 2009 and has evolved quite a bit since. He believes,
“Miele are hands down the best all round vacuum for domestic use, really fantastic in every way. Only down side is bags are fairly small, but they provide really great filtration which [in my opinion] is far more important. The only reason I can imagine people [don’t agree] is because they’ve had either a dodgy Miele, or the wrong head on the Miele for the carpet.”
It is an important point, with the TurboBrush not always being the best option. It all depends on what surface you’re intending to vacuum. You can check you’ve got the right tool for the job on the Miele accessories page.
Yermum needs a new washing machine
On the Overclockers forum Yermum has asked the community what brand of washing machine to go for. Her current model has died and as someone who ‘hammered it’ twice a day during the week and then four or five times a day over the weekend, the replacement has got to be a ‘workhorse’.
Plenty of people have leapt in to offer their advice and a number have recommended Miele. Mjt admits that Yermum may have to spend a little more than she wants to, but it is worth it for a Miele, especially considering that Mjt’s current machine has been going for 20 years. Philjohn agrees,
“Spend the extra and get a Miele, they are consistently ranked as the very best in most consumer shootouts. I don’t know a single person who has one and is disappointed with it.”
The thread is full of washing machine related debate, which you can read through this link.
