Jasper Garvida under the microscope

I must admit to have never watching Project Catwalk, but that’s not to say I’m not truly impressed with the fashionable creations of Jasper Garvida… As it seems were a number of the folk who accompanied Miele to his recent Spring Summer 2010 catwalk launch. Helene from the Luxe Chronicles sizes him up alongside US Project Runway success Christian Siriano,

“The Canadian-born Central Saint Martins graduate is as soft-spoken and self-effacing as Siriano is brash and attention-seeking. But don’t be led astray by his discreet manner. Not to take anything away from Siriano’s colorful personality but Garvida prefers to let his talent and ambition speak for him.”

Moving on to comment on the vibrant colours, shimmery embellishments and all those little touches that made his creations, she concludes,

“His dresses are bold but still feminine. They make you want to twirl around and dance rather than go into battle. In short, they make you happy to be a girl and I’m all for that. To see the entire collection, click on this link.  Jasper Garvida. Remember the name.”

Kit Lee interview with fashionista Jasper Garvida

Another day and a particularly interesting update from Kit Lee of The Fashion Assistant & Her Camera blog from the London Fashion Week which she attended with foreverbetter.com last week. This time it’s a video interview with with Jasper Garvida, who is the winner of last year’s Project Catwalk.

Already a hit with her readers, she has received some praise on her blog -- shini stating “great interview, very well thought out questions and presentation!”, while Carl Starling add “Great interview. I love his work..Brilliant! Wonder if he needs another assistant?? Hhaha”.

The Luxe Chronicles interviews Jasper Garvida

The Luxe Chronicles

In the last of our London Fashion Weekend posts, Helene from The Luxe Chronicles talks about Project Catwalk, the Miele Fashion Prize and of course an in-depth interview with Jasper himself.

From Jasper’s background as a fashion student at Central Saint Martin’s, his influences and experience as an in-house designer for Monsoon and Miss Selfridge to his Project Catwalk win and the establishing of his own label, Helene covers all the bases.

It’s certainly an interesting insight into one of the UK’s best up-and-coming designers, so drop by her blog and see for yourself.
