MJT at Overclockers opts for Miele
On the Overclockers forum Mr Paul has asked for advice on the best provider of fitted kitchens. Although there has been a wide and varied response, MJT recommends Miele,
“Miele fitted kitchens are very solid and last forever, as do the appliances.
Ours is 20 years old this year and only the dishwasher and oven have been replaced, and that was last year. All the units are in perfect condition and nothing has broken.”
The discussion on the thread is a healthy one, so if you’re interested in seeing what else was being said click through.
Mikeyman76 recommends a Miele washing machine
OldBrock at UK Whitegoods has had a washing machine malfunction and has turned to the community for advice,
“In line with online advice it needs to be a machine I can maintain myself with access to reasonably priced spares. I would appreciate your advice please.”
The first response is from Mikeyman76 who is straight down the line,
“Buy a Miele prestiege plus.
You wont need another machine for another 20 years. Enameled case so no rust, made in Germany and quality reputation. Some of the more pricey Miele machines are offering a 10 year guarantee at the moment!!!”
Despite this firm recommendation and the guarantee, both Odom and Seamy raise the issue of the price of spares when out of warranty. The last word from OldBrock on the thread though is that,
“Reliability speaks for itself!”
Pet hair vacuum trouble at PaidToShop
Pet hair vacuum trouble has struck Aardvark at PaidToShop. Their current model although equipped especially to deal with moulting moggies and hair-dropping dogs is having trouble,
“…the beater bar constantly gets clogged with fur and fluff…”
Asking if anyone else has had similar problems has brought other consternated pet owners into the discussion. PookieNoodle mentions the laborious process of having to cut hair out of the vacuum to de-clog everything.
Deb2108 recommends the Miele Cat and Dog as an option to combat excessive amounts of pet hair, despite the cost of replacing bags,
“The Miele cat and dog is brill if anyone thinking of buying a new [vacuum] in the future […] never have to cut out dog hairs (actually think I remember doing once a year or 2 ago) great suction.”
Does your Miele Cat and Dog do the job? Let us know.
zz9 recommends a Miele washing machine
Digital Spy member zz9 has offered the recommendation of a Miele washing machine on a thread begun by Tom_Tit.
Tom_Tit’s current machine stopped spinning and after some investigation he decided that the cost of repair wasn’t worth it. As the the thread continued with options for replacements zz9 suggested Miele,
“Miele are the best. Mine is 13 years old now and has never had a problem. My brother has an even older one that’s still going strong. He had a blocked sensor once that he unblocked himself and that was six years ago.
Most Miele’s come with a full five year or even ten year guarantee but they build them to last twenty years”
There is also debate on the argument of buying cheap and replacing regularly or purchasing a more expensive brand and getting a warranty. Flyin Brick is firmly on the side of buying quality and when Bob22a suggests otherwise he puts forward his reasons and experience qualifying his opinion,
“The cheaper machines tend to last roughly 18 months to two years, the [more expensive] machines tend to last between 5 and 10 years. I’ve no idea where you get the idea that the reliability is worse, in fact it’s a ridiculous statement.
I base my opinions on 25 years plus of repairing, selling and scrapping domestic appliances. Most of the other engineers I know have the same opinions.”
Where do you stand on the cheap vs. expensive debate? Head to the full thread for more on this and further recommendations.
Yermum needs a new washing machine
On the Overclockers forum Yermum has asked the community what brand of washing machine to go for. Her current model has died and as someone who ‘hammered it’ twice a day during the week and then four or five times a day over the weekend, the replacement has got to be a ‘workhorse’.
Plenty of people have leapt in to offer their advice and a number have recommended Miele. Mjt admits that Yermum may have to spend a little more than she wants to, but it is worth it for a Miele, especially considering that Mjt’s current machine has been going for 20 years. Philjohn agrees,
“Spend the extra and get a Miele, they are consistently ranked as the very best in most consumer shootouts. I don’t know a single person who has one and is disappointed with it.”
The thread is full of washing machine related debate, which you can read through this link.
