TZ-UK contributors back Miele
A fellow called PS ranked Captain on the TZ-UK forum, the friendly place to discuss watches without oppressive moderation, has decided it is time to talk washing machines!
“Does anyone own a Miele – if so, what is the general experience with them in terms of reliability?”
Quite a few responses have come in and on the whole have been positive. Goat is unsure of the model number but doesn’t let that discourage him from offering his experiences to the thread,
“Very pleased with my Miele. Not sure on the model number but it was the cheapest that John Lewis sold at the time – about £500 if I recall correctly, really has been faultless.”
And maybe the most striking recommendation comes from Treebirch,
“I have had quite a bit of experience with Miele on super yachts, generally they are industry standard based on the fact they are pretty much the only machine that can run 24/7, use very little water, make minimal noise and clock up epic usage. Last year I heard of one that had done 25,000 hours, getting rolled around on a busy charter sailing boat! Impressive!”

You and Miele: Lola Re
In our latest installment from ‘You and Miele’, Vivian from Lola Re talks about why garment care is so important to her, and what we should all be wearing this summer. USA football kits anyone?

1. If Lola Re were a book, what would the blurb on the back of it say?
If you asked Lola Re her interests, she’d say ‘Cultural revolution, fashion, forward thinking and my hair – but not neccesarily in that order.’ Her blog reflects that; it’s a unique mix of musical refererences, profiles of emerging young fashion designers, daily style photos, and skin & haircare product reviews. She’d say it’s a work in fashion progress.
2. Aside from fashion and beauty, what other passions / interests do you have?
Dancing, holistic health & independent film. I also love camper vans, tea and my family.
3. How important is garment care to you? Do you have favourite items that require special care?
That’s a great question and one I think should be focused on more by young fashionistas. If you’re going to build up a collection of unique and significant pieces, then you should take proper care of them! Ironing is a good start… Miele makes a Rotary Ironer that is incredible. You sit down at it and feed your clothes through, and it has multiple settings and a little arm that swings out to hold the items you’ve just ironed without creasing them. It’s brilliant!
4. We noticed you’ve been getting involved in the World Cup festivities. So, who’s going to win it?
I am probably the least qualified person to say! I do however wish I could meet whoever designed the USA’s team uniforms. How dashing is the white sash detailing across the front?! It makes the players look like princes.
5. You graced our presence at last year’s Jasper Garvida catwalk show. What kind of events would you like to see us run in the future, for Fashionistas like yourself?
I loved attending the Sparks & Miele charity fashion show last fall. I realised that we fashion bloggers can use our newfound influence to help causes. Let’s get everyone in a room, throw a fashion show, raise some money and maybe even donate some clothing. We could call it Charity Shop 2.0. That would be so much fun!
6. Finally, we at Forever Better could do with some fashion pointers… What sort of clothes and accessories should we be adorning ourselves with this summer?
I am currently infatuated with chunky wooden heels and clog sandals. Now, these can be quite tricky to style into an outfit, so I’d recommend an open toe design and tousled, windswept summer hair to balance out the bulk of the shoe. I like the ones I stole from my sister.
I think one of the bright crocheted dresses from Jasper Garvida’s S/S 10 collection would look incredible with chunky wooden clogs and a brown leather bag on a Saturday afternoon in some London market… Dreamy.
Thanks vivian. Head over to Lola Re to see all of her latest outfits and find out more about Lola Re.
Got a shedding kitten; get a Miele Cat and Dog Turbo
Overclockers contributor Kona has a kitten that has started to shed and has turned to the community for help on replacing his faltering vacuum.
The responses have all favoured Miele as the most suitable option, specifically the Cat and Dog Turbo 5000 which was one model Kona was keen on. Wannabedamned has anecdotal evidence of its powers,
“The Miele is great. It’s the one my uncle has and he’s got 3 cats and a dog. And the place is always spotless.”
And Grimley used to sell Miele,
“[Miele] vacuum cleaners are as good now as they were over 10 years ago when I used to sell them. Which? best buys too.”

DustFluffGrit reviews the Miele Hybrid S4812 vacuum
Back in January we covered DustFluffGrit’s reaction to this cleaner after he saw it in action as an exclusive. Since then, he’s had one in his own home and has now posted his full review of the Miele Hybrid S4812 vacuum cleaner.
The Hybrid S4812 instantly appeals to DustFluffGrit’s love of ‘innovative new appliance designs and concepts’ and while it may look like a regular variant on the Miele S4 cylinder models it has the addition of their Hybrid technology,
“Although the name ‘Hybrid’ conjures up images of energy-saving petrol/electric vehicles, Miele’s technology is based around a set of lithium-ion batteries. Increasingly used in the floorcare industry, lithium-ion batteries offer fade-free, constant power output until the charge is depleted, and recharge more quickly than other batteries.”
This means the user can switch between corded and cordless modes seamlessly with a runtime of 20 mins when disconnected from the mains. As a cordless cylinder it has the advantage over conventional handhelds as you don’t have to support the weight of the whole thing when reaching into those awkward to get to spots.
In terms of overall impressions,
“As with all Miele products, the Hybrid exudes quality. Everything – the cleaner, the hose, the wand, the tools – feels made to the highest possible standards.”
And cleaning prowess,
“I have no complaints about performance on either corded or cordless mode. When running the cleaner from the mains with the filter-bag empty, I had to turn the power down to stop it from ripping the carpet off the floor!”
DustFluffGrit is nothing if not thorough, and his review of Hybrid S4812 covers everything you could possibly want to know. He covers the finer details of the battery indicator, changing the bags, the filters, performance on different surfaces and of course wheter or not it is value for money. It’s all there: and his conclusion,
“There is a clear value to the cleaning flexibility offered by the Hybrid, and the technology cannot be found on any other brand or model of vacuum cleaner. I feel there are other cleaners in Miele’s extensive range which perhaps offer greater value for money, but if you have £499.99 to spend on a vacuum cleaner, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with this one!”

Miele S2110 reviews at dooyoo
At dooyoo Val-99 has reviewed the Miele S2110, giving it a 5-star rating and referring to it as ‘superb’,
“I purchased the Miele s2110 6 months ago and I have to say it is the best cleaner I have ever owned. The body and attachments of this cleaner are so strong and robust and the suction is unbelievable it actually lifts up the carpet when cleaning the stairs.”
She lists the only downside as being that the cleaner isn’t bagless meaning that you have to factor in the cost of replacements. There are also three other reviews of the vacuum too that are worth having a read of if you’re considering the S2110. Nar2’s 4-star verdict maybe from June last year, but is an extremely thorough review. It covers everything you could possibly need to know.
You can find Val-99’s review of the Miele S2110 on dooyoo here and read about the vacuum’s specifications on the Miele product page.
