Brief encounters – Miele S5210 vacuum cleaner review

There’s been a trend in recent years which means many vacuum cleaners are designed to be a triumph of style over substance and this is reflected in this latest review for the Miele S5210 vacuum over at the Review Centre.

The anonymous ‘Guest’ reviewer thinks so too in their choice of the S5210 which they describe as “unassuming”. While not designed to make you “think funky thoughts about space ships or fwuffy kittens or something, its look just says ‘I’m going to pick the dust and dirt off your floor quickly and easily for the next 20 years’” which is something owners say frequently about Miele appliances.

Awarding the S5210 10/10 across the board and a 9/10 for style, the reviewer writes it “oozes quality…the hoses clip together positively, the accessories are all tightly engineered heavyweight plastics, and even the cable feels stronger and more flexible than most peers”. They think this build quality comes at a price though as they comment that “it weighs a fraction more than some others and well, it’s not what you’d call cheap”.

Vacuum Cleaners: “Anyone recommend a good one?”

So begins the thread at AskAboutMoney and with a healthy number of replies – once again it seems that another consumer has been well served by the forum communities on the web.

Although a number of vacuums have been brought to the NORTHSIDE’S attention, Miele is winning out – at least in the opinions of the ‘AskAboutMoney’ types. PeterGriffin, presumably on a break from filming, took time out to relay the sentiments of an expert: “Was chatting to a guy who repairs them one day and he basically said to stay away from Dyson as they always break down but that Miele were about the best (that’s what we bought in the end)”, while huskerdu voiced the sentiment of the people “The last time this question was asked on AAM, the Miele won the popular vote hands down.”

Emmt has picked the opinions of the experts, as well as uncovering a few names to avoid, but agrees “According to Which reviews Best – Miele S4281″- and niceoneted lays his personal experiences on the line “I have a Miele S5210 [now replaced by the S5211], I can say it is fantastic”. All of which led to pretty much the only conclusion one could draw from the whole thing “thanks very much guys will go with a Miele”.

Brief encounters – Miele S5210 vacuum cleaner review

It’s not often I’ll string together a number of admiring adjectives, but DianaPopp’s glowing review over at Dooyoo of the Miele S5210 – since replaced by the S5211 – has encouraged me, just this once, to do so! ‘Outstanding’, ‘best’, ‘superb’, ‘clever’, ‘sturdy’, ‘fabulous’, ‘pleased’, ‘enthusiastic’ – it’s like a list of ideal terms you’d want in a review of your product – and it seems that she’s truly enamored with her new Miele.

Describing it as “the best vacuum cleaner I have ever bought in 30 years”, Diana struggles to pick her very favourite element of the machine, but eventually picks out the “the massive suction” – stating that it’s managed to suck up a carpet tile that has been stuck down for ten years…Now that’s cleaning power! Not to mention that “it simply eats the dust and dirt”.

To read the rest of her review in its entirety, pop right along to Dooyoo or you can read the previous reviews of the S5210 we’ve covered in the past on Forever Better.

I’ll leave you with Diana’s simple, clear, three-word conclusion….

A definite buy!

Brief encounters – Miele S5210 vacuum cleaner review part 4

We’ve covered three earlier reviews of the Miele S5210 before on Forever Better and this fourth is as equal in its praise as each of the previous testimonials.

Once again this anonymously written Review Centre evaluation awards the S5210 the full 10/10 across the board including ease of use, durability, style, service and value for money. Described as having “excellent performance, interchangeable floor heads from other Miele models, variable power selection, quiet operation, well built and sturdy and fairly light weight”, the only issue is the cost of replacement bags which the reviewer advises “…to shop around for best prices”.

The owner of this S5210 is also no stranger to Miele being the owner of a house full of other appliances including a washing machine, dishwasher and fridge freezer and concludes their write-up with “whilst Miele products are not cheap, they are without doubt built to last and just ooze Germanic qualities of understated engineering”.

Brief encounters – Miele S5210 vacuum cleaner review part 3

In the third installment of the S5210 vacuum review over at the Review Centre ryry87 has written the most comprehensive evaluation to date, following the two earlier reviews provided by kash gadhia and jacqueline2681.

Having now owned an S5210 for over a year Ryry87 gives it the Review Centre ‘thumbs-up’ and a full ten-out-of-ten and highlights the suction, looks, quality, lack of noise and value as killer-features. The only minor niggles being the expense of replacement bags and filters and the length of the hose.

Ryry 87 concludes by describing the S5210 as “…one of the best vacuums I have ever tested…the build quality and 20-year reliability is better than Hoover or Dyson could ever dream of…”.
