“Big news this week, without doubt” says Suburban Mum with some enthusiasm on her blog today – but what can she mean? Is she a Democrat, delighted with the recent ascent to power of Barack Obama, or perhaps Coventry beating Birmingham away on Monday night?

No, in fact it’s the arrival of the new Miele S7 upright vacuum cleaner which is apparently “the talk of Suburban Mansions and beyond” and being “obsessed with gadgets and anything made of brushed steel”, is unsurprisingly delighted with “this sexy looking beast”. Crumbs…

The building of the machine all slotted together with consummate ease by the sounds of it, and before too long our intrepid mum was vacuuming with ease. “It hummed into life like a top-of-the-range Mercedes; very quiet but with that feeling of power at your fingertips” she says of the big switch on, and after a good ’swoosh round’, her “rug has seriously never looked so good”.

After months of sneak previews and gossip, the most eagerly awaited vacuum cleaner in years has finally made it’s red carpet appearance: Say a big welcome to the new Miele S7 upright.

After much public demand the S7 is the first upright cleaner ever from Miele and adds to an already formidable line-up of the S4000 and S5000 series cylinder vacuums. The range contains five different models from the modest S7210 to the top-of-the-range Autocare HEPA and includes the ever popular Cat & Dog and Allervac models.

As we highlighted briefly last week, Miele will soon be launching their first upright vacuum the S7. To whet the appetite of all those keen to get their hands on one, Miele have launched a teaser site and competition to win one of five of this top-of-the-range machine.

As the site itself says: “When designing our first upright vacuum cleaner, we interrogated the design from every angle. The result was the Miele S7, incorporating an innovative swivel neck for maximum agility. Like our famed cylinder vacuums, the S7 delivers optimum cleaning power. It’s also designed to last up to 20 years…”

The news hasn’t escaped the notice of the eagle-eyes over at the Money Saving Expert forum where a conversation has begun into the competition and a number of eager members have already entered in the hoping of bagging a prize.

You can’t argue with a 10/10 review - and that’s exactly what mart526330 says of the Miele TT5000 Cat & Dog vacuum over at the Review Centre.

Having sported an upright Sebo for the last eight years, moving brands was obviously a big step. With the long-awaited Miele S7 upright due for an October launch, mart526330 decided to go for a Cat & Dog and is pleased to report that the “Miele is such a strong performer”, delivering results there’s no need to shake a duster at. It has an “excellent adjustable power coupled with effective turbo brush attachment” which he says has left his carpets “spotless.”

It’s always been a problem for him “removing sock fluff etc… from beige, tight pile carpet”, but “this vacuum does that job effortlessly”. He also suggests that the Cat & Dog is “easy to use, store and move around, bag/filter replacement is also easy and mess free.” In conclusion, mart526330 seems entirely happy, being fully “satisfied…and hope it lasts as long as the Sebo!”
