Miele vacuums compared on mumsnet.com
Would a Sebo or Miele Cat & Dog REALLY pick up as much dust and carpet debris as a Dyson?” ask mumsnet.com, and it seems that the residents of the forum are quick to respond.
“MIL has had Dyson and Miele, and says the Miele is better” says Cargirl of her vacuum experience, whilst AMumInScotland suggests that “Miele is very good, but I’ve never had a Dyson to compare with”. Frumpygrumpy has a specific reason for “lov[ing her] Miele Cat & Dog as you can vary the power when its on ‘very powerful’ and scoops up everything.”
LiberalIdleOlogy agrees “Oh yes… Miele Cat & Dog is fab” but quote of the day must go to Vamanos for the age old gag “The Miele definitely SUCKS (in a good way)” who continues “is vv powerful but also has good variable suction for furnishings, rugs etc.”
Miele vacuum discussion over on mumsnet
After having problems with vacuums here, there and everywhere – supersalstrawberry has done the sensible thing and aired her grievances to all on mumsnet.com – suggesting that recent occurrences have left her “thinking about a Miele” and wondering “are they really better?”
Claireybrations is the first to come back and answer the question directly, suggesting “Miele Cat and Dog-brilliant!” – she’s not the only one who thinks so either. Kingfix relays a happy tale “So far it has been great on hard floors and carpets. My mum is still using her Miele after 25 years, which is what persuaded me”. Kylesmyloveheart adds “definitely a MIELE or a SEBO” while the impossibly named dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies responds “Miele cat and dog [is] FANTASTIC”.
The conversation progresses, and can be read in full detail over here – do go and take a look.
Brief encounters - Miele S380 vacuum cleaner review
Ukconsumer75 is something of an expert in the review of vacuum cleaners having previously written five of them over at the Review Centre and this latest one is no different in its thoroughness and attention to detail.
Having previously been a Sebo owner, ukconsumer75 bought the Miele S380 as a replacement for his old K1 and having already purchased an S4210 for his Mum knew what to expect in terms of Miele’s reputation. While he concedes the S380 is slightly more unwieldy to pull around than the S4000 due to its extra weight, unlike its bigger brother it “has a tool tidy storer where the door rises beautifully on well precisioned hinges to show three cleaning tools that fit sugly into their own carry space”. He’s also impressed by the extra length of the S380’s power cord having been frustrated by shorter leads on lesser models in the past.
Although the S380 is due to be replaced by the new S2 line early next year, ukconsumer75 still considers it “an all in one complete vacuum cleaner”. Why not jump over to the Review Centre to read his write-up in full.
“What vac have you got?” - Detailing World speaks
As we’ve seen before on Forever Better, Miele’s reputation stretches far beyond the realms of money-saving, household and review sites. It’s also a particular favourite among members of motoring communities and this latest discussion over at Detailing World demonstrates just that.
Automotive detailers are notoriously obsessive in their attention to cleanliness so when PTAV needed a new vacuum he went to his fellow members for advice. While the brand recommendations are more evenly spread than usual, Miele still has its fairshare of admirers none more so than Dazmeister who’s “just bought a Miele after having had Dysons for past 6-7 yrs.” While he found Dyson’s after sales service good he wanted to try something different and was “recommended this brand and have to say I am impressed. Very quiet and light too”.
Jbell limits his recommendation to simply: “I have Miele, awesome thing”, while dog owner Chris R says he “switched over to a Miele Cat and Dog TT a few years back and it literally takes all hair off the carpet in a single pass with the turbo brush you get with it”. Pretty handy then when he has “two black labs and light carpets”.
If you’ve got a suggestion for PTAV or have a story to tell, why not jump over to the Detailing World forum and share your thoughts.
Best vacuum to replace an old Vax?
The good folks over at DVD Forums have come to the aid of d.boyd1uk whose Vax cleaner of fifteen years is nearing the end of its life. Having looked at both Dyson and Miele he’s none the wiser over which is best for him so used the power of the community’s combined knowledge for the answer.
Simion_levi casts the first vote for Miele, but it’s Ianlash who quotes a Which? review of “99 different vacuum cleaners, and Miele have 5 in the top 6″, while IAmATeaf comments that he “never thought I’d ever rave about a vacuum cleaner”, but having replaced his Samsung with a Miele he found it “in a different league in all areas, the build quality, it’s sucking power, how easy it is to drag around and how it compacts the bag.” Vast_girth, kez, JamesK and ROne too each give Miele the ‘thumbs-up’.
With almost twice as many Miele recommendations compared to the other brands, the vote is unanimous. All that remains now is for d.boyd1uk to make his decision. Pop over to the forum to follow the rest of the conversation.
