Brief encounters - Miele W1512 washing machine review

Posted by Matt  22 July 2008

A new Miele review has popped up at Review Centre, this time from member Moira Hollamby who’s decided to rate her Miele W1512 washing machine. It’s a very positive testimonial in which Moira says she would “recommend this machine to anyone!”

Moira thinks that the Miele W1512’s good points include “everything”, especially the fact that it’s “a well made machine”, the only negative thing she can think of is it’s “very heavy if you need to move it”. She goes on to say that though “it may seem expensive”, it’s well worth the money as it’s “a machine that is built to last”. Moira knows what she’s talking about too, as she declares she’s had “nearly every make of washing machine” and none of them made it past eighteen months of usage, plus the W1512 “washes cleaner than any machine I have ever owned”.

As well as being very happy with her Miele W1512, Moira also thought Customer Service “was brilliant too”, receiving an extra 5 years of warranty free after registering her guarantee. You can read the full review here.

Miele Washer Dryers: Are they worth the extra?

Posted by Simon  14 July 2008

Netmums member Rosie F is in a bit of a quandary after working her way through two washing machines and a tumble dryer in the last five years. Instead of separate units she wants to get a washer dryer and after having spent a small fortune on other brands in the past wants to know if the extra initial investment in Miele will be worth it.

CathH immediately recommends Miele on the strength of their customer service and warranties after she had repairs made to her vacuum cleaner, while lizm recalls the advice given to her by an appliance engineer of choosing either a cheaper brand and replacing it every two-three years or spending the extra on Miele which will last twenty.

Rosie F concludes with the thought: “…I have to say a lot of my fears about washer dryers have been confirmed! Buying a cheap one is a bit of a gamble…”. If you’ve got any further suggestions for her why not leave a comment.

High praise for Miele

Posted by Matt  25 June 2008

Over at mobile phone forum MoDaCo, jimbouk has been singing Miele’s praises after some technical issues were resolved quickly by the “manufacturers of high quality expensive washing machines, tumble dryers etc”.

Jimbouk reports on how he bought both a Miele washing machine and tumble dryer back in 2000. In 2006 his tumble dryer element burnt out but was repaired by a Miele technician for a total of £100. It was when the washing machine developed a “serious fault” that jimbouk became really impressed. After calling Miele, another technician was sent out who told jimbouk that the washing machine was 8 years old and had done approximately 5000 hours. Because Miele build their washing machines to last 10 years or 10,000 hours, they would cover the cost of the repair. Miele decided to replace the machine “with a brand new equivalent model” rather than repair it, and much to jimbouk’s delight, it came with a ten year guarantee.

Jimbouk was also impressed at being able to talk directly to someone at Miele, rather than navigate an automated system and have his problems dealt with quickly and efficiently. As Jimbouk says, “Well done Miele!”

Brief encounters - Miele Cat & Dog TT5000 vacuum cleaner review

Posted by Simon  24 June 2008

We’ve posted a Cat & Dog vacuum cleaner review before on Forever Better and this one is no different in its praise for this favourite among pet owners.

Over at the Review Centre another former Dyson owner has posted a short, but sweet review of the Cat & Dog. Awarding the TT5000 8 out of 10 for durability, ease of use, service and style and the full 10/10 for an overall rating, the only blot on the TT5000’s copybook being the 0/10 for value for money.

Nonetheless this reviewer describes the Cat & Dog as “[Doing] everything you ask of it and more without doubt the best cleaner on the market.” and sums up their approval with the closing comment “…it really is far better than the Dyson in every respect if only I had purchased one years ago.”

Which brand is best?

Posted by Simon  12 May 2008

While not in the market for a new machine, Petrus at the Damsels.org Forum is running a quick straw-poll on which brand of washing machine is best.

Miele once again gets the lion’s share of the vote with twelve recommendations to Bosch’s ten including such testimonials as Redhed’s “…Hugely reliable, excellent service engineers”, Tinkle’s “the Rolls Royce of white goods…after 8 years they are still both going strong” and Azana’s “…very sturdy - ours gets stacks of abuse.” Parkejm in particular likes the enamel finish which “…doesn’t go yellow like the plastic ones.”

To follow the rest of the discussion hop over to the forum and if you’ve got a suggestion for your favourite machine, have your say.

Brief encounters - Miele S5210 vacuum cleaner review

Posted by Simon  8 April 2008

jacqueline2681 has recently reviewed the S5210 for the Review Centre and concluded that the vacuum is “…top quality”.

She gives the S5210 full marks across all categories: ease of use, durability, service and support, style, value for money and overall value and is very impressed not just by the vacuum itself, but the quality of the hoses and tools which she describes as “…not plastic rubbish”.

She estimates that even when using the machine everyday she gets a good month out of each vacuum bag and has found eBay a good source of inexpensive replacements.

Yet another ‘thumbs-up’ for Miele so read the rest of her review in full and let her know what you think.
