Should Bobingalong get a Miele Washing Machine?

Bobinalong’s Hotpoint washing machine is giving up the ghost after a good old innings, and he has turned to ukwhitegoods.co.uk forum for inspiration as to where to go now. Already having “read a lot about Miele” he realises “quality costs” – but “will be pleased to here what [others] have to say”.

And despite a row beginning over the relative merits of eco-balls, Kentish is quick to suggest “Miele. You will get your 5 yr warranty (which I would be surprised if you used) and their spares are easier to obtain (as is service) than Maytag” – which seems to chime nicely with Bobingalong’s wish for a “stainless steel machine and don’t mind spending a good chunk of money on the right machine.”

Although conversation seems to be flowing, no final resolution has yet been discovered, so pop over to ukwhitegoods to have your say.

Miele dishwashers: “The flat cutlery tray is genius”

SparklyGothKat over at the Mumsnet discussion boards has had her dishwasher go belly up. Luckily her insurance covers the cost of a replacement and likes the look of a Smeg machine she’s seen. However for a further £20 on top of her payout she could go for a Miele instead and “wondered what they are like”.

No prizes for guessing that Miele comes out ahead of Smeg from those members who’ve owned both brands. As Winetimeisfinetime demonstrates: “I have had a Smeg dishwasher – a stainless steel one which looked lovely but was not very good at washing the dishes…also had a Bosch which was similarly bad”. “We now have a Miele which we are pleased with…So I would definitely recommend Miele over Smeg”.

Docket too describes the comparison as “Miele are meant to be the best. Smeg are meant to be amongst the worst!” although what ultimately gains most attention is Miele’s flat cutlery tray of which NCbirdy, GrabShellDude and Warthog are all fans. Mme Lindt goes one step further describing it as “genius” while Winetimeisfinetime pops up again to comment on the safety factor of keeping “the sharp stuff out of the way”.  Happy with the responses SparklyGothKat concludes: “Miele it is then!! Can’t wait to get the voucher and go shopping!!!”

Recommend me a dishwasher

Money Saving Expert member I,M SAD is looking for a new dishwasher for their family of four. While they’ve got their heart set on a Miele machine they’ve also asked for other suggestions.

The only respondent thus far is Windym, the proud owner of a G1230SC which fits the requirements of a full-size, stainless steel machine. She describes it as “…amazingly quiet, efficient and very very good at cleaning dishes…”, but above all loves the cutlery tray which “…cleans beautifully…” and gives “…extra space on the bottom rack.” While she admits you pay more for Miele in the short term you can expect them to last for twenty years.

If you’ve any recommendations for the ideal dishwasher, jump over to the forum and have your say.
