Joanna is unlocking the secrets of the Miele steam oven

Until a few weeks ago, Joanna from joannasfood.blogspot admits she didn’t know a steam oven existed – and from this she is now “trying to work out whether I want one in the imminent re-design of a corner of my kitchen.”

Well, you can pop over to find out how she’s getting on with it now on her blog, and after a few initial struggles she has been crafting perfect asparagus, canning tomatoes via a process that “allows the steam oven to come into its own, making the process the work of moments.”

Celia continues to test her Miele Steam Oven – and the kids love it

Remember Celia Kusinera who was getting on so well with her trial Miele Steam Oven a couple of weeks ago? Well it seems she’s been extremely busy, and “during the three weeks that she had the privilege of trialing it, [she has] cooked a varied number of dishes and [her] kids are using it a lot for re-heating food”. Indeed, they are apparently “actually sad that it’s going soon”.

Everything from broccoli to sea-bass has seen the inside of the steam oven – and photos, as well as a recipe for steamed chicken can be found over here.

Delicious steamed pudding recipe going down well in the Miele Steam Oven

Steamed food has always appealed to Celia from desparen.blogspot.com as it “brings out the best flavour and locks in nutrients of most ingredients more than any other cooking method”. With the arrival of her recent Miele Steam Oven trial, a world of steamed possibilities has opened up to her, and now said oven “is [her] new best friend”.

Whereas before she used to dread the possibilities of steaming, now it’s different and Celia “just love[s] the ease of cooking in it. With the Miele Steam Oven all I have to do is fill up the water jug on its side, set the temperature and timer and away it goes”.

Relaying that her children have taken to the steam oven with delight, Celia has of course tried it out – and provided a scrumptious recipe you would best be advised to copy down and try immediately! Especially if comfort pudding is your thing. “It’s best eaten with generous lashing of warm custard. I promise you it tastes so much better than how it looks in my picture below. Fantastically great comfort pudding on a winter’s night. Do try it – both the steam oven and the treacle pudding.”

Passionate chefs take heed – this is how to cook seabass!

The scourge of everyone from high-salaried investment bankers to your everyday man on the street, the credit crunch has hit Britain hard. Not least ‘thepassionatecook’ who’s recently been trialing the Miele steam oven and has had rather a good time of it by all accounts.

Had I tested this marvelous appliance six months ago, I would have bought it without hesitation – these days I don’t even dare ask myself if I can spend a thousand pounds on another kitchen gadget” she gushes of the oven. But why so good? Well – one look at the momentous seabass dish she created, tells this hungry correspondent all one needs to know. “An absolute delight” she says, and all cooked within the same oven.

However, it was the overall simplicity of the cooker that really appealed to our passionate chef. “The fabulous thing, of course, being that you can pretty much leave it to do its thing while you run out and get the kids, walk the dog or just generally get on with your life – a thing you would never do with something simmering away on your stove”. Well indeed, and if one can create such culinary masterpieces as ‘thepassionatecook’ whilst doing so – the kitchen will be looking like an inspiring place to come back to.

Make sure to pop over and read her full post, but to share her final thoughts with you – “in any case, as soon as I’ve got enough loose change in my pocket, the Miele steam oven is the first thing I’ll buy!”
