Miele Fashion Prize entry deadline approaching

The deadline for entries to the Miele Fashion Prize 2010 is fast approaching, but if you’re yet to enter, there is still time.

If you believe you can put together a design for a spectacular fashion masterpiece inspired by Miele’s washing machine garment care programs then you have until the 31st July to get your entry in. The winning designer will not only see their creation made a reality by Jasper Garvida, but they’ll also recieve £1000 worth of Miele appliances.

All of the details for the competition can be found in this Forever Better post and on the Miele Fashion Prize page, along with the entry form and template on which to draw your design.

Jenny the Style PA has also posted a reminder on the competition which features the 2009 winning design from Nathan Jones (pictured above),

“To enter this year’s contest, you have to design a dress which reflects one of the special fashion care programs on Miele’s laundry machines just like Nathan’s honeycomb idea. Find out more about wash cycles here.

You don’t need to be a fashion designer to take part, just grab a pen and paper and put your creativity to work. Who knows, you just might have what it takes to win.”

Indeed you might! Enter here.

Miele at Grand Designs Live

Forever Better visited Grand Designs Live and two of our guests, Gary and Jenny have put together their thoughts on Miele’s presence at the show.

Gary, The Inspirational Geek, has provided an in depth and visually rich rundown of what the day involved, in particular the Miele stand,

“The Miele stand was once again showing off their new range of kitchen products. Steam ovens, coffee machines and induction hobs that look great and have the industry renowned function to accompany. It’s also credit to Miele that some of the smaller brand stands were even using Miele ovens and fridges to surround their own products, they are the industry level of association and image other people want.”

He also talks about the live demonstrations and especially enjoyed the ‘hilarious’ Nancy Lam who was demonstrating Miele’s induction hob and submerged wok work station.

Jenny, The Style PA, has written a post at Yell.com under the interior design section. There’s talk of all that the show entailed and how seeing the state of the art homes of the future was a real eye opener.

In regard to Miele Jenny lists the products that impressed her and gives her thoughts on the Miele appliances,

“[…] their appliances are the most intelligent I’ve seen. This is one company that really has thought of everything, and we’re not talking gimmicks. As a Miele representative gave me a demo of the range you could see how every feature was a real solution to a problem or a way to make people’s lives easier.”

One thing that Jenny really loved was the Miele collaboration with SieMatic. Together they’ve utilized wireless technology to create a multimedia system that is integrated with the kitchen and can all be monitored and controlled from a single head unit. Very cool.

You can read the full posts at Yell.com and Inspirational Geek (Gary also has a photo set of the day at Flickr) where you can leave your comments and let them know your thoughts.

Jasper will be talking about his latest collection and discussing garment care. We’ve already got a full guest list and the night promises to be one of quiet glamour among the sparkling surroundings of the Miele Gallery in London.

We’ll make sure we capture as much as we can and relay it all back to you through our Flickr account and here on Forever Better. We’ve got, among quite a few others, ThatGirl39 from Forty Not Out, Kavita from I Heart Vintagex and Reena from Fashion Daydreams attending, which means style is going to be in abundance – and we can’t wait.

There’s also sure to be conversation on the Miele Fashion Prze 2010, the chance for an aspiring designer to see their design made real by Jasper and shown in an exclusive event later in the year. Full details are here.

Although the guest list for the meet and greet with Jasper is full, Forever Better will be doing more events like this throughout 2010. If you’d like to be involved just send us an email telling us why and we’ll get straight back to you. Right, we’re off to start picking out our outfits.

Jasper Garvida’s LFW show – more updates

Monday we had posts and tweets a-plenty from the guys we took along to Jasper Garvida’s London Fashion Week Show. Among them were Style Slicker, Fashion Slant, Park & Cube and Diamond Canopy who especially loved the front row seats Miele provided,

“I can’t believe we were given front row, it was amazing. It might never happen again so I definitely didn’t take it for granted. […] I was quite impressed by [Jasper’s] newest collection. I really loved the twenties theme, art deco prints and the make up.”

As you can from the photo; certainly making the most of her prime position.

Vanity Fashionista and Everything Cherry Chan108 have both posted on their experiences too. Vicky of Vanity Fashionista was a competition winner who, although not overly familiar with Jasper’s work, was eager to attend a fashion week show. And now she has, as well as getting her self right up to date with JG’s A/W 2010 collection,

“The collection, the catwalk show, Jasper Garvida was AMAZING! I loved every single one of his pieces.”

There are a selection of pictures from the show in her post, only a slection mind as Vicky did confess to taking a shot of every single outfit! She also managed to snap a picture of Beverly Knight and Liz McClarnon (she also spotted Sophie Anderton). The celeb attendees were also spotted by Cherry of Cherry Chan108 who also took a picture.

Being a fan of Jasper’s work Cherry expected to have a good time, but was surprised by just how much of a good time,

“I feel like everything was on point; the music, the models, their walks, the timing, the atmosphere and I was particularly touched when Jasper came out at the end for his final bow. My first cat walk experience was extremely satisfying.”

We’re really pleased everyone enjoyed it so much :) . If you’d like to get involved more with Miele and Forever Better, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with Claire [@] ForeverBetter.co.uk.
