The joy of buying your first home

Posted by Matt  24 July 2008

Getting a foot on the property ladder has never been more difficult, so you can imagine Claire484’s delight when she finally bought her first home. Now she’s looking for a washing machine and fridge freezer and is finding it hard to make a decision over the best ones for her.

So she’s turned to her fellow Money Saving Expert’s for advice and Miele once again come out as the preferred choice. Kay41 bought a Miele washing machine to replace her old Zanussi as “…they are built to last (15-20 years)” and is “…chuffed to bits with it”.

Likewise Snapelover has just ordered a new Miele machine and is taking delivery tomorrow. After contacting Miele and “being advised to go for the W3922WPS” she compared it against a Bosch and decided that Miele’s reputation for longevity and ten-year guarantees against Bosch’s two-year warranty was a no-brainer. Such is her excitement she concludes with “…Got lots of washing waiting and longing for Friday to come!!!”

The dilemma of the best fridge freezer for Claire484 remains unresolved however so if you’ve got a recommendation for her, why not drop by the forum and share your thoughts.

Miele W3922 vs. ISE10: Let battle commence!

Posted by Matt  10 July 2008

Over at UK Whitegoods an interesting debate on the Miele W3922 washing machine vs. the ISE10 has started and both sides have their own vociferous supporters.

The discussion arose after IncredibleMrT asked which was the better of the two. Penguin45 replied that both Miele and Asko (who manufacture for ISE) are the only two “absolutely top quality manufacturers left supplying the European market”. After IncredibleMrT mentions he’s now purchased the W3922, adamhornsby tells him that “Miele are also twice award winners for best domestic appliance brand” and that it should serve him well. IncredibleMrT goes on to say “it was a good price, 10 year warranty and the missus liked the look of it”.

IncredibleMrT may have made his decision to buy the W3922 already, but there’s still plenty of interesting conversation to read in the thread. If you’ve any opinions or advice of your own, head over to the thread and let the UK Whitegoods readers know.

High praise for Miele

Posted by Matt  25 June 2008

Over at mobile phone forum MoDaCo, jimbouk has been singing Miele’s praises after some technical issues were resolved quickly by the “manufacturers of high quality expensive washing machines, tumble dryers etc”.

Jimbouk reports on how he bought both a Miele washing machine and tumble dryer back in 2000. In 2006 his tumble dryer element burnt out but was repaired by a Miele technician for a total of £100. It was when the washing machine developed a “serious fault” that jimbouk became really impressed. After calling Miele, another technician was sent out who told jimbouk that the washing machine was 8 years old and had done approximately 5000 hours. Because Miele build their washing machines to last 10 years or 10,000 hours, they would cover the cost of the repair. Miele decided to replace the machine “with a brand new equivalent model” rather than repair it, and much to jimbouk’s delight, it came with a ten year guarantee.

Jimbouk was also impressed at being able to talk directly to someone at Miele, rather than navigate an automated system and have his problems dealt with quickly and efficiently. As Jimbouk says, “Well done Miele!”

At your age you won’t need another…

Once again Miele’s reputation for longevity resulted in this macabre suggestion made by mojo1’s mother when discussing purchasing a new machine with the famous ten-year guarantee.

This time Sheffield Forum member SimonS is in the market for a new washer and mojo1 has passed on those words of wisdom in the form of a Miele recommendation. Boyfriday’s less foreboding testimonial of “…fantastic and sooo quiet!” is more reassuring, while Strix also suggests Miele for their cast iron drum and build quality.

The debate continues however over whether a combined washer-dryer or separate appliances are the way to go. Save space or full-load tumble drying? What would you suggest? Jump into the conversation and have your say.

Another one bites the dust…

Posted by Simon  21 April 2008

Blissfullbabe’s not had much luck with all things electrical this year and so far has had to replace a number of appliances. The latest bit of kit to bite the dust are the bearings on her five-year Hoover washing machine, so she’s asked for suggestions on what to do next? Whether to repair the old one or buy a replacement?

After a number of similar catastrophes with less expensive washing machines, Liitleblackcat splashed out on a new Miele and suggests doing likewise as they come with a ten-year guarantee. She further recommends Washerhelp’s Buying Advice Guide as indispensible when choosing the right machine.

Miele Warranties - The best in the business?

Posted by Simon  15 April 2008

Durability, reliability and longevity are three recurring words used to describe the Miele range of products. There’s no shortage of comments online of appliances lasting fifteen to twenty years and if anecdotes aren’t enough to convince you then there’s the piece of mind of the five and ten-year warranties.

Andy Trigg of Whitegoods Help has a comprehensive list of warranties and eligible products plus other promotions currently running including free Le Creuset pan sets and dishwasher starter kits.

So if you’ve just purchased a new Miele and haven’t returned your warranty information already, jump over to their site and download a claim form.

Best Miele machine for the average user?

Posted by Simon  14 April 2008

Money Saving Expert member Globalds’ current washing machine is on its last legs and he’s looking for a replacement.

Although not a heavy user, he’s still looking for a machine which will be used on most days and can handle the laundry of four people. Sponge recommends the W4446 WPS he purchased last year with a ten-year warranty, calling it the “best machine I’ve ever owned”, while sandran recommends the Prestige Plus W525 which he describes as ‘…fantastically quiet” with “…great programmes for my family of four”.

Taff007 further recommends the W3470 admitting that whatever Miele model is bought the “…quality is obvious” and will “…easily put up with the daily grind”.

If you’ve got any suggestions for Globalds, join in the conversation and have your say.

Brief encounters - Miele WT2670 washer dryer review

Posted by Simon  7 April 2008

In the second of our brief encounters reviews, sideshow bob from the Review Centre has posted his thoughts on the WT2670 washer dryer after twelve months use.

Despite using it three times a week he describes the machine as “…still running like new” and provides “excellent washing and drying results”. He’s also impressed by the build quality and the basic five-year parts and labour warranty which can extended to ten years by simply returning the warranty card to Miele.

Comparing the WT2670 to his previous Hotpoint and Hoover appliances he describes the Miele as “…simply outstanding” and gives it the Review Centre ‘thumbs-up’.
