ECG finds a Miele bargain!

ECG has found a super deal on a Miele Tumble Dryer, and in sharing her discovery with pals at the hotukdeals.com forum has stoked up some debate about the Miele brand as a whole. After all, as she points out, “you cannot beat Miele for build quality”.

XxGunnersxX agrees stating that he is going to let his “[other brand machine] go bang and when it does get a Miele, no 5 year warranty to pay!” RSteve suggests “Boiling hot [offer], excellent price and excellent brand that’ll last for years”.

You can read the whole discussion over on hotukdeals.com, which Patti rounds up nicely below, “I have a Miele washing machine and dishwasher, they are so worth the extra money. I have had the Dishwasher 15 years and the washing machine 10 years and I have never had to get either repaired. No rust on either of them.”

Brief encounters – Miele T294C tumble dryer review

It’s not often we get a tumble dryer review on Forever Better. Perhaps it’s because it’s the unsung hero in the laundry room with the washer grabbing all the glory and more than its fair share of write-ups.

So with this review of the Miele T294C over at the Review Centre, it’s time for the humble tumble dryer to get five minutes in the limelight and what a better way to start than with a swathe of top marks from the Guest reviewer who’s awarded the T294C 10/10 for ease of use, durability, service and value.

‘Efficient’, ‘economical’, ‘quiet’ and ‘fast’ is how this owner describes using the dryer whose large family means it gets continuous usage and after “having cheaper brands that packed up every couple of months” the T294C is a “sheer delight”. Unable to fault with the dryer they point out the “the next model up gives time remaining but do you really sit and watch it decrease?…[the] buzzer is fine so you can get on with the next load!”

So the T294C gets this reviewer’s whole-hearted ‘thumbs-up’. Jump across to read their review in full and if you find it useful, why not rate it.

Which Miele tumble dryer? The toss of a coin decides

Over at Digital Spy, Delightful faces something of a dilemma.

Luckily for her though she’s faced with the choice of not one, but two Miele tumble dryers and is unsure of which one to go for. After “researching tumble dryers a while now” she’s narrowed it down to either a T8422C or the T7644C, but “just can’t decide between them”.

While she prefers the T8422C her other-half prefers the other as “it’s cheaper”, so she’s looking for some ammo to backup her decision. While redfrog comments that “these 2 models are, apparently, not very popular with DS users”, COSMO 911 defends Miele on the grounds that “DS users have a pound stretcher mentality and could never appreciate the quality of a Miele product”

Inspite of Whirlpool owner Chessie’s recommendation of “T8422C, definitely!!!!” and “I think Miele are one of the best, and have read excellent reviews on their items”, the decision rested on the toss of a coin. Luckily for Delightful, the best-of-three strategy worked and the T82422C it is.

Tumble Dryers: Vented or Condenser?

Today is Friday and what better way to approach the weekend, than with a tumble dryer conundrum. One which may not be hot on the lips of the average man in the street, but vital when it comes to getting your clothes ‘snug-to-wear’ dry. So, over to Mayhs from AV Forums who asks: “Should I get a condensed or vented one, which one is better?”

Fellow forum members were certainly quick off the mark and within an hour of the original question, GasDad returned with a sterling recommendation “Vented – less to go wrong. And Miele is the only choice”, a point that Danmc 82 agrees with.

A number of users suggest condenser dryers crease and shrink clothes, that’s except for Bosch and Miele according to crocodile, and latterly ma0sm – “I bought a Miele T7644C condenser a few months back and have had no problems with it apart from the door being slightly difficult to close, which isn’t really a big deal”.

So the advice would seem to be that if you like power tools, and a hole in the wall is no problem, you should go for a vented dryer – but choose carefully – and if not you won’t go far wrong with a condenser!

Extended warranties on tumble dryers

Over at the UK Parents Lounge Forum, Scrummy mummy has something of an urgent request. Her Hotpoint tumble dryer has just short-circuited the entire house and as a busy mum with lots of laundry needs a reliable machine that won’t let her down. Her quandary is whether to “go for a Miele” or “can someone recommend me a reliable make with a large large drum which will last more than 2 years?”

Crank Parent immediately recommends Miele as “you can get a free 5 year labour and parts warranty on lots of models just now and they have a life expectancy of twenty years.” as does plopcar and traciej who’s mother-in-law’s machine “…lasted over 20 years with excessive usage!”

While scrummy mummy is sold on Miele’s reputation for longevity, the question has arisen whether the extending the standard two-year warranty is worth the extra outlay? The unanimous decision being that for a further £60 an further five-years peace-of-mind is definitely worth it.
