Brief encounters – Miele Car Clean Set Vario SCC review

In addition to the usual appliance reviews we cover on Forever Better, vacuum aficionado Nar has contributed yet another Miele accessory review to Dooyoo, this time on the SCC Vario car cleaning kit.

His earlier write-up on the STB 205-2 Turbobrush was in-depth and illuminating and he excels himself once again with a similarly meticulous report. Covering what you get in the box, using it in the car and in the home, he’s impressed by just how much the kit adds to the already formidable cleaning prowess of the Miele machine he uses it with, although he does point out the Vario SCC can be used with other brands of vacuum cleaner.

After giving his car the once over with the kit for the first time he was “shocked with the amount of dust and debris” it picked up and more specifically “getting in between the wheel arches in the boot which seem to attract a lot of dirt I never knew existed” a job he hates doing by all accounts.

Turning his attention to using the Vario SCC around the home, he explains how he was able to rescue a needle trapped inside a rather expensive sewing machine and the cleaning of the delicate strings of his grand piano and both his saxophones.

As we’ve seen in the past with other Miele products, Nar’s biggest bugbear with the Car Clean Set is availability. While Miele offer the Vario SCC via its website, he points out that the kit occasionally surfaces on eBay if you don’t want to fork out full price.

Brief encounters – Miele Cat & Dog S5260 vacuum cleaner review

A new review of the Miele S5260 Cat & Dog vacuum cleaner has popped up on review site Ciao! Written by ladytinkerbell, she likes the S5260 so much that she admits she “love[s] to hoover now!”

Describing the vacuum as an “excellent machine”, ladytinkerbell reports on how it is solid yet lightweight, how the metal tubes can be extended to a “fantastic length” and the head can be altered for different locations. She’s also impressed at the cleaning result, as it’s “amazing” on dog hair with the tools giving “great results” on sofas and curtains. She highlights the small brush tool as being particularly useful as she uses it everywhere including the skirting boards, door tops and even ceilings.

Though she mentions it’s a little bit “pricey”, she thinks it’s “well worth it” and wouldn’t want to use another vacuum cleaner “after experiencing this quality”. Head on over to read the full review here.

Brief encounters – Miele S5210 vacuum cleaner review revisited

Following up after our first post on the Review Centre’s S5210 review posted by jacqueline2681, kash gadhia has recently added her own thoughts on the vacuum.

Awarding the cleaner the full ‘ten-out-of-ten’, she highlights the ease of use, power and versatility as its winning features and sums up her year of ownership thus: “After trying to save money on cheaper alternatives, this is probably the best home appliance I have bought.”

Best vacuum for laminate floors?

Having never bought a vacuum before, Rebecca H of Netmums.com has asked for suggestions for the best bagless cleaner to use on laminate floors.

Both Dyson and Vax receive mixed reviews, with Dyson once again falling short due to snapped hoses and burnt-out motors. Miele on the other hand is recommended by both Anna H and Alison M on the strength of its versatility on all floor surfaces including carpets and tiles while Ali S loves hers for picking up the fur from her two long-haired cats.

What are your suggestions for the best vacuum on a number of surfaces? Have your say in the forum.
