Share pictures of your Miele washing machine online

Members of automaticwasher.org are obviously very proud of their washing machines, and HooverKeymatic has started up a thread inviting users to share pictures of them – and they’ve arrived in droves.

Kic from South Africa has kicked off a photo of his Miele 1613, and amongst some fascinating vintage kitchen accessories, whilst mattywashboy shows off his Miele combo, with the reassuring comment “no troubles from these two so far”. electron1100 has uploaded a whole heap of pictures of his Miele W562 Prestige Plus 6, and servisslimline talks of another brand of machine that is much louder than his “25 y.o. 1100 rpm Miele.

Pop over and have a look, or why not add your own.

“For quality, longevity and perfect result there’s only one make….”

Recommend me a washing machine” asks the self-confessed laundry appliance novice raceboy at The Piston Head’s ‘gassing station’. He wants it silver, but “as far as tech spec goes [he hasn’t] really got much of a clue”, leaving the suggestions very much down to pals on the forum.

“Miele” suggests jamoor with pokethepope following up with the financial caveat that “if you can stretch to a Miele, or ‘only’ need the 7kg capacity they go up to its worth it, especially if they have the 5/10 year warranty deal on”.

SamPet is a little more forceful with his suggestion though… “PLEASE LISTEN TO ME!! For quality, longevity and perfect result there’s only one make: Miele”. Have your say on washing machines at pistonheads.com.

If Miele were a car – what would it be…

Ask the residents of scoobynet.com – and the conclusions are rather flattering, prompted perhaps by hodgy0_2’s assertion that “surely everyone knows Miele make the best washing machines — just look at the drum inside — all metal”.

“Yes, but a Miele is on par with a BMW M5” says Ali-B, only to be ‘corrected’ by the originator hodgy0_2 who states “not quite, imo, Miele is akin to what Merc were in the 80′s and 90′s built by engineers not by accountants”. Of course, these comparisons aren’t for everyone, but while Matteeboy says “Men arguing about washing machine brands – whatever next?!”, J4CKO couldn’t disagree more – “We bought a Miele as I [didn’t] want the doom and gloom from the missus when the washer broke down again, £700 plus quid and a ten year warranty, so £70 a year for me not to have to think about it”.

Miele washing machines discussed on therevcounter.com

Therevcounter.com is not a regularly covered on foreverbetter.com, but todays heated discussion around ‘which washing machine’ has certainly provoked food for thought across the board. Cheb suggested “Miele are very good but a large initial investment. When I bought mine the 5 year warranty was £15 rather than the more usual £150. An insight on how often they will need to payout I think.”

Scottland agrees, suggesting “+1 for the Miele. Had one which never missed a beat and as far as I know is still going strong after 8 years” while burty bought [another brand], replaced it with a Miele and commented that “the build quality is incomparable”. “It’s also incredibly quick.” If you have any views, jump into conversation over here.

Miele washing machines: price versus quality?

Discussion a-plenty on the UK DIY Google Group about Miele, as the age old price vs. quality argument has reared its head. Miele owner Tim S argues that in ‘today’s throw away society’ “this is definitely a Miele moment”, whilst David suggests that Miele would be top of his ‘looking’ list.

Meanwhile, although Huge has had problems with his machine after not cleaning it for 8 years, he’s still impressed because… “(i) the front opens on a hinge, so it doesn’t need to be removed from under the countertop, or tipped up, (ii) that it can be run with the front open, so faults can be seen happening & (iii) there’s a wiring diagram clipped on the front of the machine!”
