What vacuum? – A conversation on PistonHeads…
What vacuum? It’s a question asked on the motoring forum PistonHeads by BMWBen who has a cleaner that no longer sucks and is ‘kinda noisy’, thus it’s time to replace it.
The major requirement is that the new vacuum needs to be around the £100 mark. While this would usually discount the Miele option, it isn’t actually the case. After Kambites offers the Miele option,
“We have a Miele one which seems to work. If you put it on full power, it does pick up rugs and things and it’s impressively quiet.”
And NewNameNeeded highlights the price issue,
“Find […] a Miele for his budget of £100 and I’ll take half a dozen off your hands!!! (but another vote for the Miele Cat & Dog if you double your budget!”
It is Arese who brings the second hand option to the table,
“I think our Miele wasn’t much over £100 from Ebay. I can’t get on Ebay from here, but it might be worth a look.”
Would you buy second hand? Juastayellowbadge sees that some might be put off by second hand. However his response to that is succinct,
“Miele. 2nd hand won’t matter, they last forever.”

Got a shedding kitten; get a Miele Cat and Dog Turbo
Overclockers contributor Kona has a kitten that has started to shed and has turned to the community for help on replacing his faltering vacuum.
The responses have all favoured Miele as the most suitable option, specifically the Cat and Dog Turbo 5000 which was one model Kona was keen on. Wannabedamned has anecdotal evidence of its powers,
“The Miele is great. It’s the one my uncle has and he’s got 3 cats and a dog. And the place is always spotless.”
And Grimley used to sell Miele,
“[Miele] vacuum cleaners are as good now as they were over 10 years ago when I used to sell them. Which? best buys too.”

Vacuum cleaner debate at MSE
Loopylulu is after advice on specific brands of vacuums as her current one was ruined after clearing up all sorts during the process of refitting a kitchen. However the Money Saving Expert community have gone outside their remit and offered advice on other brands too, one of which is Miele.
Gas4you gives a succinct assessment of his vacuum situation,
“Bought a Miele and have never looked back since.”
And it is a similar case for MyRubyRed who after bemoaning his current vacuum states,
“I’m going back to Miele.”
Toward the end of the thread it is Penryn and Thistledome who comment on the quality of Miele, the latter commenting on his model,
“I bought a Miele TT5000 Cat and Dog. Best vacuum I’ve ever had, well-made, quiet and really powerful – makes short work of pet hair.”

Boards.IE talk bargain vacuums
Contributor Positivenote is looking to the sales to pick up a bargain vacuum. Aiming to get a top brand at a budget price they’ve asked the Boards.IE community for advice,
“Hi guys, I’m looking at getting a [vacuum] in the sales, I’m based in Dublin, any suggestions on the best place to get a bargain? Thanks.”
A few locations have been offered, but the brand to go for has also been debated. Astrofluff refers to the Miele Cat and Dog as the ‘bees knees’ and Oceanclub stating,
“Based on recommendations, including the latest Which magazine (which rates it as the best hoover on all floor surfaces), I went the Miele Cat and Dog TT5000 Vacuum Cleaner S5261. You can get it from electricshopping.ie for €230, which is the best price I could find.”
